Meet Rose. She’s the beautiful woman in red. Rose works with all the kids at the YFC (Youth for Christ/Youth Unlimited) Centre on Merritt Street. She’s one of the most amazing women I know. I’ve had the great privilege of working with this organization (and Rose) for a number of years. YFC ministers to the youth in our community. In particular, the marginalized youth of our community. They provide food, clothing, comfort, advice and love to any kid who comes to them. To a lot of the kids who come to the drop in centre, Rose is the closest thing to a mother they have. Rose sits with these kids at doctor appointments, runs the Young Pregnant Niagara and the Girls Only programs, sets up counselling for the kids, provides endless hugs and prays … and prays …. and prays. She’s Auntie Rose to their babies and loves every one of them. Some of these kids wouldn’t be alive today if it wasn’t for Rose and YFC.
February 19th was the annual YFC Fundraiser Gala. Over 400 guests enjoyed fabulous music by LMT Connection, a silent auction and live auction and a scrumptious meal in the beautiful ballroom at the Holiday Inn. And we got to hear from some of the youth who have had their lives changed because of this great organization. So many volunteers, many of whom were kids who are part of the YFC family, worked long hours planning and hosting this wonderful event. I’m blown away every year by all the work that is done to make this Gala so very special.
Here are a few more pics from the event and a few folks who stopped by the Photo Booth on their way in.
Photo Booth Fun!
